ASF assisted the Lakas ng Pagkakaisa ng Mamamayan ng Sitio Ruhat, Inc. (LAPAMARU), an urban poor organization in Barangay Mambugan, Antipolo City in implementing its scholarship program for deserving high school graduates. This four-year educational assistance project, that started in school year June 2009 to March 2010, is currently on its final year this school year 2012-2013. Eighty percent (80%) of the project beneficiaries are female, a priority group of ASF.
The project supported the financial needs of these scholars, including the full payment of fees, monthly allowance and a semestral school project allowance. In addition, the scholars shared that their involvement in LAPAMARU activities contributed in building their self confidence and to their overall their personal development.
As of the end of school year 2011-2012, the project benefited 10 children of LAPAMARU members, five (5) of whom have graduated. The courses of the five graduates were: Bachelor in Industrial Technology-Electronics (3 scholars), Hotel and Restaurant Management (1 scholar) , Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering (1 scholar). The five graduates were given graduation gifts amounting to P500 each.
